Washing (30∘C):
Method: Hand washing is highly recommended for maximum longevity. If machine washing, use a mesh laundry bag for protection.
Temperature: Use Cool water (max 30∘C or lower). Hot water causes shrinkage and dulls the silk's luster.
Detergent: Use a pH-neutral detergent or one specifically formulated for silk and wool. Do NOT use standard detergents, bleach, or enzymes, as these will break down the silk proteins.
Prep: Do not soak silk for prolonged periods.
Agitation: Gently swish the item in water. Never wring, twist, or scrub.
Drying:
Air Dry ONLY. NEVER tumble dry. Heat will damage and shrink the silk.
Excess Water: Gently press or roll the item in a clean, absorbent towel to remove excess water. Do not wring.
Hanging: Hang to dry or lay flat. Avoid using wooden or metal hangers that may snag or rust.
Sunlight: Avoid direct sunlight or placing near a radiator, as this can cause fading and fiber damage.
Ironing:
Wrinkles: Hang the item in a steamy bathroom to release minor wrinkles.
Ironing: If you must iron, do so only when the silk is dry. Use the lowest heat setting (or the 'Silk' setting) and iron the garment inside out. A pressing cloth between the iron and the silk is ideal.
General:
Dry Cleaning: Items marked "Dry Clean Only" are safest with a professional.
Stains: Treat stains promptly, but avoid scrubbing. Consult a specialist for tough stains.
